O David Berlinski γεννήθηκε το 1942 στη Νέα Υόρκη. Είναι φιλόσογος, παιδαγωγός και συγγραφέας. Έχει διδάξει μαθηματικά, φιλοσοφία και αγγλικά στο Stanford, το Rutgers και το City University of New York, και μαθηματικά στο Université de Paris. Έχει διατελέσει εταίρος ερευνητής στο International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis στην Αυστρία και στο Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques στη Γαλλία. Σήμερα ζει και εργάζεται στο Παρίσι. Έχει γράψει πολλά βιβλία περί φιλοσοφίας και μαθηματικών αλλά και αρκετά μυθιστορήματα.
