Ο Harold Pinter γεννήθηκε το 1930 στο Λονδίνο. Άγγλος συγγραφέας θεατρικών έργων και θεατρικός σκηνοθέτης. Έγραψε έργα για το θέατρο, το ραδιόφωνο, την τηλεόραση και τον κινηματογράφο. Το πρώιμο έργο του συνδέεται με το θέατρο του παραλόγου. Το 2005 κέρδισε το Βραβείο Νομπέλ Λογοτεχνίας καθώς και το Βραβείο Φραντς Κάφκα. Ήταν γνωστός επίσης για τον πολιτικό του ακτιβισμό και την αντίθεσή του στην αμερικανική εισβολή στο Αφγανιστάν και τον Πόλεμο στο Ιράκ. Πέθανε το 2008 από καρκίνο του ήπατος.
